This is an exciting opportunity to provide compassionate, high-quality mental health care to a diverse patient population in a collaborative clinical setting. As a key member of our behavioral health team, you will assess, diagnose, and treat psychiatric conditions while working closely with other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of mental health conditions.
- Prescribe medications and monitor treatment effectiveness while ensuring safe and evidence-based care.
- Provide psychotherapy, counseling, and patient education as appropriate.
- Collaborate with physicians, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Educate patients and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and medication management.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Stay current on psychiatric best practices, clinical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
- Must hold an active New Mexico Nurse Practitioner license or be eligible for New Mexico licensure prior to employment.
- Current DEA registration (or ability to obtain one before start date) preferred.
- Experience providing psychiatric and behavioral health services to diverse patient populations.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Tebra, Kareo, Athenahealth, Epic, Cerner, or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, psychiatric assessment, ICD-10 coding, and evidence-based treatment practices.
- Experience with crisis intervention, geriatrics, pediatric behavioral health, developmental disabilities, or substance use treatment is a plus.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team and maintaining HIPAA compliance.
